| The application will check whether it is out of date at the point of logging in with a data connection.

| The application will first check whether there is an essential update required, to allow it to check properly for updates. If one is found, the application will prompt that an essential system update is required. When this message is cleared, the device will prompt you to install the update. When this is complete, click OK.

| This process will also check if there has been any functional changes to the EPOD application, resulting in an update required to the main functionality. If so, the application will display a screen showing you the version download, and the update required. The screen will direct you through downloading then installing the update to the application. When complete, the device will ask whether the application should then be re-started.

| {{Note}} If the application has been updated, the device will need to download the configuration and standing data from the system before you can log on. The application will show that this is required when started. It will not be necessary to change the configuration of the device after an update, but this can still be achieved by logging on as an Admin user, as shown in the [[PDA Configuration]] section.
