==Solution==

Create a new field called Sub Contractor which will be held at trip level and displayed on the Trip screens(Trip Planning and Trip Manipuation). This field will be a check box which will indicate a sub contractor.

If this field is checked, the driver id is automatically set to ‘SUB-CONTRACTED’.

This will ensure that any Status change conditions based on a driver being populated will not be affected.

The tractor and Trailer fields will also be updated to display ‘SUB-CONTRACTED’

The driver, tractor and trailer fields will be disabled once they have been populated with the value ‘SUB-CONTRACTED’

If the sub-contractor check box is then de selected, the driver, tractor and trailer fields are enabled and set to null.

Change Request Evaluation time is based on the time spent looking into three additional fields for driver, tractor and trailer and the screen and report dependencies on the original fields. After discussions with Paul, a less complicated solution was agreed.

==Scope==

This change will be applied to system version 10.6 on CONTST and once approved CONPRD.

==Data==

A new field will be added to the SCH_TRIP table called SUB_CONTRACTOR. The field will be VARCHAR2(1) and will be checkbox entry.

A record will be added to the RES_PERSON and RES_TRACTOR tables for the entity ‘SUB-CONTRACTED’

The new field SUB_CONTRACTOR will be displayed on the following screens.

The length of the comments tab will be reduced to allow the field to be displayed above the comments tab and under the status field. The size of the comments tab on the TRIP PLANNING screen will also be reduced to allow the new checkbox field to be displayed.

The field will be a checkbox with the label Sub Contractor.

When the new field is populated with data, the DRIVER field and VEHICHLE field on the trip detail tab of the Trip Planning and Trip Manipulation screens will be automatically populated with the value SUB-CONTRACTED.

The trailer id on the stop tab will not be populated with the value SUB-CONTRACTED as trailer id must match the trailer type assigned to the trip. If a trailer type is assigned to the trip we would only be able to assign SUB-CONTRACTED if it had been created and allocated the same trailer type. As a trailer can only be assigned one trailer type, this would not be possible.

When the check box is de selected, the fields are set to null and enabled.
