Calidus Vision

Introduction

The purpose of the Calidus Vision product is to allow visibility of productivity, system and business information through the use of graphs, charts and data lists.

There is a business need to extract and see information regarding the operation and its performance within the warehouse.

Therefore the Calidus Vision product will be used to display this information.

As Calidus 3pl-Mobile (the WCS) is highly used and must remain responsive at the highest level at all times, the data for Vision is \’mined\’ into a new database, where productivity analysis begins.

Network Diagram

In this instance, Calidus 3pl-Mobile exists on one server and the Data Mining process and Calidus Vision are on a separate server, for simplicity. As all of the processes are Windows-based, all could co-exist on the same server or be distributed to separate servers as required.

Data Mining

OBS have created data mining processes for the extraction of system, activity and productivity data from the Calidus 3pl-Mobile database. System Data:

  • Receipts in Progress
  • Total Cases SKUs on Receipts
  • Total number of SKUs on Receipts
  • Number of Putaways and total quantity.
  • Number of Moves and total quantity
  • Number of Replens and total quantity
  • Number of Full-pallet Picks and total quantity
  • Number of Part-pallet picks and total quantity
  • Number of Stock Take tasks
  • Number and Status of loading tasks (Pending, Held, In Progress, Ready for Despatch)

Activity Data:

  • All Activities performed by RF users

Productivity Data (Calculated from the Activity Data):

  • Summary of number of tasks completed per day
  • Detail of number of tasks completed per session
  • Productivity figures derived from tasks per hour, per day.

Platform: Windows Technology: Windows Script, DAO, MySQL Database

Parameters

The data mining database has been created to allow the entry of parameters to show Minimum and Desired Productivity rates for each functional area. Screen-shots of the data and the settings currently enabled are shown in Appendix C

As the data mining tools are further developed, this will also include:

  • Historical analysis of productivity in functional areas, to learn productivity rates and predictions.

Calidus Vision Front-End

The Calidus Vision web front end displays the data on timed changing display, optionally displaying the data in forms, graphs and tables.

Sample screen-shots of the front end can be seen in Appendix C

This supports:

  • Productivity views (per task, per Warehouse/Owner/Employee, in days, weeks, months and quarters.
  • System views, showing the current state of the system mined in terms of tasks outstanding.
  • Enquiries on the data in tabular form.
  • Graphs showing the overview system and productivity data.
  • Client look & feel.
  • Definable menu structure.
  • Multiple information streams displayed on one form (2 horizontally, 2 vertically, 4 corners).
  • Configurable timed displays (what screen are displayed, how long each is displayed).
  • User-definable settings.
  • User settings (limiting Company, Warehouse and Owner)

Platform: Windows/Linux Technology: IIS (Windows), ASP, DAO, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

System Guide

Basics

The system is access through your web browser. Currently any web browser and screen size is supported, although larger screen sizes can mean better detail and functionality in the screen. Graphs and Charts are provided through Shockwave Flash, and this plug-in must be installed in your browser.

Log On

Users will be set up for you. Use the user names and passwords provided to log on to the system.

Main Screen (HOME)

This screen is accessible at any time by selecting Home on the main menu on the left side of the screen.

The screen displays summary help information.

The left side of the screen displays the main menu. This menu is displayed on all screens, except the Timed Display.

Menus can be opened and closed by clicking on them. Summary Screens show combined views of information designed to give an overview of particular areas quickly and visibly. Single Screens show a single element, usually tailored for a specific purpose. Graphs show graphical versions of the summary screens. In most cases, clicking on the graph will display the data used to create the graph. Each screen in the menu contains a description of what will be displayed - to see this, simply hover the mouse over the screen name.

Summary Screens

Summary Screens show combined views of information designed to give an overview of particular areas quickly and visibly. Screens can be:

  • System-related, showing current system tasks:
  • Employee-Productivity-related, showing productivity in different areas:
  • Summary screens of productivity information

Single Screens

Single Screens show a single element, usually tailored for a specific purpose

Graphs

Graphs show graphical versions of the summary screens.

In most cases, clicking on the graph will display the data used to create the graph.

Enquiries

Enquiries allow the user to select the data through a variety of parameters:

You can choose the Sort mechanism by choosing from the Report By drop-down list, and the direction of the sort using the Direction drop-down list. If no direction is chosen, the data is not sorted. You can limit the amount of data shown on the screen using the Limit drop-down list. You can choose the Task Type to be displayed by choosing from the Task Type drop-down list. The timescale of the query can be set using the Timescale drop-downs. The summary level of the report can be chosen using the Level drop-down list. Click Go to execute the query.

You can change the query selection and re-run the query by clicking the Change Enquiry Selection button.

The overall Look and Feel of the application can be chosen from the values in the Style drop-down list. The size of the form and relative size of the font can be adjusted to best suit your display using the Size of Font and Size of Display Frame drop-down lists. The relative size of the entire display can be adjusted using CTRL-+ and CTRL-- in your browser. The delay between screen changes in the Dashboard Times Display can be set by choosing the value from the Time until new screen displayed drop-down list. The screen display can be maximised in the Dashboard Timed Display view by choosing \’No\’ from the Show menu and logo in timed display drop-down list.
