FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION - 10.6

05/04/2011 - 1.0
Reference: 287161 MB-8F3DTY

Client Requirement

Investigate high volumes of EDI interface traffic to Microlise resulting in high EDI charges for the contract.

Solution

The current setup of the Dunelm contract means that some of the information sent via DHL Link (ESI) is not required. This results in larger XML files being sent than is necessary to provide the required detail to Microlise.

A new system parameter will be created to indicate the level detail required for Microlise, specifically whether POD processing on MDT’s is implemented or not. If switched on denoting telemetry only, C-TMS will reduce the amount of data sent out – otherwise the files will remain as they are currently.

The trip stop level information will not be changed.

The changes will be made in the INT_XML_OUT2 package.

The changes are intended for use in the Dunelm contract – however this change may be useful to other C-TMS contracts.

Scope

This change will be applied to C-TMS system version 10.5

SETUP

The existing system parameter MIC_SUPPRESS_ORDER_SEGMENT will be used for this change.

Currently it is set for the Dunelm system as ‘TRUNK’. This suppresses orders from every stop other than the final delivery location.

To switch on the changes for this RIO, the parameter should be set to ‘ALL’.

To just activate the changes in this RIO, this parameter can be set to ‘EDI_OUTPUT’.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

File layout changes

Currently, the Microlise output sends all the detailed information for a trip – every stop and all the orders & order lines for that stop.

For this example, the size of the file has dropped from 156kb to 11kb. The original had 2631 lines, the new file 219 lines.
