Functional Overview
Client Requirement
The system currently functions so that any products as part of a delivery or collection must be held within a container. This needs to be altered to allow for products to be assigned to a Job without the need for a container.
Solution Overview
The solution will be to allow users to assign products to a 'Hidden' container. This container wil not be shown within the system.
Scope
- The changes will be made in the latest version of the CALIDUS ePOD system.
- The system will be written in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, with the intended initial device configuration of Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.x, and a screen resolution of 320*240 pixels only.
Set-up
Pre-requisites
There are no additional prerequisites for this new functionality other than those of the initial system.
Menu Structure
No menu structure changes will be made to the PDA or Admin systems.

Functional Description
PDA DELIVERY & COLLECTIONS
Within these menus there are two tabs, containers and products which currently function by allowing the user to select a container for delivery then showing any products within that container.
A change should be made to allow for the following:
- If there are no containers other than the 'Hidden' container, show any products that are associated to the hidden container, and hide the containers tab.
- If there is a mix, show and process containers first, hiding the 'Hidden' container and then process products on the 'Hidden' container using the above method.
ADMIN
Changes will be required to the following screens:
- Containers screen: When entering containers for a job, a link should be displayed that to allow products without containters (Loose Products) to be added. When this link is clicked a 'Hidden' container will be created if it does not exist, to assign any 'Loose Products' to. The container id of the 'Hidden' container will then be passed to the products screen, and processed as normal.

If the pallet is planned for another task, task exchange will complete this task instead of the expected one first. If the pallet is not planned, pallet exchange will swap the pallet (if suitable). |

| Manifest | The contents of a vehicle or container. |
| Marshalling | The act of bringing pallets for an order or load together; an area to do so. |
| Multi-deep | A location with 2 or more pallets stored sequentially i.e. only one can be accessed at a time. |
| NA | Narrow Aisle; usually any area in the warehouse that is restricted access due to space limitations, Narrow Aisles have associate P&D locations. |
| P&D | Pick-up and Drop-off locations; locations used to control the handover of pallets between distinct areas, for example between chambers and the wider area of the warehouse. |
| PI; Perpetual Inventory | The act of continuously checking locations in a warehouse, identifying and correcting product quantity issues. Usually used in Bulk environments rather than Pick Faces. In pick faces, this process is called is called Residual Stock Balance and usually takes place after picking from a pick face. |
| Pick Face | A location designed for picking part of a pallet of stock. Usually a low- or ground-level location. |
| Pick List (order) | The instructions to pick pallets or cases from locations; the paper report associated to this; the stage of preparing these instructions; the sending of these instructions to WCS. |
