System Design

CALIDUS MCS is a browser-based application as is currently only supported with Google Chrome (or Chrome-based browsers) due to limitations of other web browsers.

The CALIDUS MCS mobile application is designed to be run without a data connection in some instances, to ensure that users in remote areas can complete jobs outside without additional hardware cost, such as SIM card, data contracts or secure wireless networks. Those functions are:

  • Receipt.
  • Despatch (without Trans-ship functionality).

In these cases, the user should log on to the device with a data connection and download the trip being received or despatched to the device. At that point, the user may then complete scanning loading or unloading the items without a data connection and complete the trip. When the device comes back into data connectivity, the device will then inform TMS of the scanned items and that the trip is complete.

The following functions always require a data connection:

  • Pallet Building.
  • Pallet Closure.
  • Damages (from the menu).
  • Despatch with Trans-ship enabled.

The CALIDUS MCS mobile application is designed to be a single-user application, with the users downloading an completing tasks fully before TMS is informed of any scans. This affects the following functions:

  • Receipt.
  • Despatch.

The trip must be scanned and completed by a single user.
